The “Rista-EPD” complex, “Rista-EPDm” and “Rista-mini” solve one and the same diagnostic task – they help the therapist to localize reflective areas (also called reflexogenic zones) to treat various diseases with SCENAR-therapy.

However methodical approaches used to solve this task are slightly different.

The therapist takes part in a diagnostic study using “Rista-EPDm” and “Rista-mini” when measuring electroconductivity mainly, and recommendations and “recipes” of treatment zones (i.e. treatment zone patterns) are generated without his/her participation – automatically. The recipe can be obtained “in absentia”, using only quantitative characteristics of state. Therefore the generated recommendations are of statistic nature and based on experience of the therapist who has suggested the algorithms of electroconductivity values processing and the corresponding system of secondary values.

Using the “Rista-EPD” complex requires much closer therapist’s contact with a patient (estimating their psychological status, detecting complaints and clinical presentations of the disease) and greater participation in diagnostics, especially when analyzing and interpreting the examination results.

The therapist controls the whole diagnostic process. The main function of the complex’s method-based software is to provide the therapist with the appropriate information at all stages of his work.

Automatic processing of the electroconductivity measurement results allows the therapist to usó asymmetry indices to select two groups of the meridians that make their maximum quantitative contribution on general functional imbalance. Every such group consists of three meridians that share the same (their common) skin area. This, in fact, allows to turn correctly from point recipes that are characteristic for acupuncture to zone recipes that are specific for SCENAR-therapy. Then the therapist uses his/her skills of clinical analysis of the patient’s condition and detects their complaints and other presentations of the disease, and compares them with potential manifestiation for each meridian in the selected groups. This allows the therapist to select (among 6 meridians) one or several meridians for which such correspondence is the closest in both quantity and quality. To make this diagnostic stage easier, the list of possible changes in the patient’s state is displayed on the monitor for each of the analyzed meridians. Once necessary meridians are selected, a treatment recipe is created automatically for the selected meridians on the therapist’s demand.

So, the methodical approach implemented in the “RISTA-EPD” complex allows to take into account (when forming ‘recipes’) not only the changes of electroconductivity values but also qualitative clinical presentations of the disease development.

The complex is a professional device that provides the therapist with possibly full information at all stages of his/her work, including the analysis of influence of qualitative manifestations of the disease on treatment recipes. The complex cannot be used successfully without a highly skilled medical professional that is experienced at clinical analysis of the patient’s state.
