Regular headaches are among the most common disorders of the nervous system. Pills do not always work. Many patients are allergic to medications. They are prescribed with a non-drug treatment.
A study of the prospects for using non-drug methods for relieving primary headaches was conducted by the scientists from Rostov and Volgograd Medical Universities. The purpose was to study the use of non-invasive transcutaneous neurostimulation (modulation) of the ophthalmic nerve for arresting a headache attack.

Oksana Lisina, assistant at the Department of neurology, neurosurgery and medical genetics at the Volgograd State Medical University, spoke about this work at the Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference held in Rostov-on-Don.
The SCENAR device has been selected for the study because it is affordable, user-friendly, provides a personalized choice of the stimulation energy, produces a bilateral effect, enables to vary modulation parameters, and there are no absolute contraindications for its application.
The results of the study showed high effectiveness of the SCENAR device even during short-term stimulation. After 20 minutes of stimulation the headache disappeared in 82% of patients with occasional headache and in 54% of patients with a chronic pain.
As part of the conference an exhibition was held where RITM OKB ZAO experts demonstrated the capabilities of SCENAR devices and advised the most appropriate model to those who were interested in the device.
